 Lesson 7 : Hypothesis Testing, Crosstabulation Tables, and the Chi-Squared Statistic. This lecture was given at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia on 26 September 2013. The lesson addresses Type I and Type II errors with respect to hypothesis testing. This is extended to using the chi-squared statistic with crosstabulation tables. The lecture also addresses the need for students to be ambitious with respect to theory construction.

 The textbook used for this course is: Statistical Methods for the Social Sciences (4th Edition), by Alan Agresti and Barbara Finlay, although the course can be used with any relevant textbook.
