Job 17장
1. My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves [are ready] for me.
내 호흡이 썩었고 내 날들이 다하였으며 무덤들이 나를 위해 준비되었나이다.
2. [Are there] not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
조롱하는 자들이 나와 함께 있지 아니하니이까? 내 눈이 계속해서 그들의 충동질을 보지 아니하니이까?
3. Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who [is] he [that] will strike hands with me?
이제 내려놓으시고 주께서 나와 함께 보증이 되소서. 나와 손을 마주칠 자가 누구니이까?
4. For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt [them].
주께서 그들의 마음을 가리사 깨닫지 못하게 하셨사오니 그러므로 그들을 높이지 마시옵소서.
5. He that speaketh flattery to [his] friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
자기 친구들에게 아첨하는 자의 자녀들의 눈은 쇠하리이다.
6. He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.
그분께서 나를 또한 백성의 속담거리로 만드시니 내가 전에는 작은북 같았으며
7. Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members [are] as a shadow.
내 눈 또한 슬픔으로 어두워지고 내 모든 지체는 그림자같이 되었도다.
8. Upright [men] shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
곧바른 자들은 이 일에 놀라고 죄 없는 자들은 위선자를 향하여 흥분하며
9. The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
또한 의로운 자는 자기 길을 꾸준히 가고 손이 깨끗한 자는 점점 더 강성하리라.
10. But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find [one] wise [man] among you.
그러나 너희로 말하건대 너희는 돌이키고 이제 오라. 내가 너희 중에서 지혜로운 자를 찾을 수 없느니라.
11. My days are past, my purposes are broken off, [even] the thoughts of my heart.
내 날들이 지나갔고 내가 목적한 것들 곧 내 마음의 생각들이 좌절되었도다.
12. They change the night into day: the light [is] short because of darkness.
그것들이 밤을 낮으로 바꾸니 어둠으로 인하여 빛이 짧아졌도다.
13. If I wait, the grave [is] mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.
내가 기다리면 무덤이 내 집이 되겠으므로 내가 어둠 속에 내 침상을 만들었고
14. I have said to corruption, Thou [art] my father: to the worm, [Thou art] my mother, and my sister.
썩는 것에게 이르기를, 너는 내 아버지라, 하며 그 벌레에게, 너는 내 어머니요 내 누이라, 하였거늘
15. And where [is] now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
이제 내 소망이 어디 있느냐? 내 소망으로 말하건대 누가 그것을 보겠느냐?
16. They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when [our] rest together [is] in the dust.
우리의 안식이 다 함께 흙 속에 있을 때에 그것들이 구덩이의 빗장들로 내려가리로다, 하니라.

Job 18장
1. Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
그때에 수아 사람 빌닷이 응답하여 이르되,
2. How long [will it be ere] ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.
어느 때에 가서야 너희가 말을 끝맺겠느냐? 한계를 정하라. 그 뒤에야 우리가 말하리라.
3. Wherefore are we counted as beasts, [and] reputed vile in your sight?
어찌하여 너희가 너희 눈앞에서 우리를 짐승으로 여기며 미천한 것으로 평하느냐?
4. He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
그는 스스로 분노하며 자신을 찢는도다. 그분께서 너를 위하여 땅을 버리시겠느냐? 또 바위를 제 자리에서 옮기시겠느냐?
5. Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
참으로 사악한 자의 빛은 꺼지고 그의 불꽃은 빛을 내지 아니할 것이요,
6. The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.
광명은 그의 장막 안에서 어두워지고 그의 등잔불은 그와 더불어 꺼지며
7. The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
그의 힘찬 걸음걸이는 좁아지고 그는 제 꾀에 스스로 넘어지리니
8. For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.
그는 자기 발로 인해 그물에 빠지고 또 올무 위를 걷는도다.
9. The gin shall take [him] by the heel, [and] the robber shall prevail against him.
그가 발꿈치로 인해 덫에 걸리니 강도가 그를 쳐서 이기리라.
10. The snare [is] laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
그를 노리는 올무가 땅에 놓여 있고 그를 빠뜨릴 함정이 길에 있도다.
11. Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
두렵게 하는 것들이 사방에서 그를 무섭게 하고 그의 발걸음을 재촉하며
12. His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction [shall be] ready at his side.
그의 기력은 굶주림으로 쇠약해지고 멸망이 그의 곁에서 기다리다가
13. It shall devour the strength of his skin: [even] the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.
그의 살갗의 기력을 삼키리니 곧 사망의 처음 난 것이 그의 기력을 삼키리라.
14. His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.
그가 확신하던 것이 그의 장막에서 뽑히며 그것이 그를 공포의 왕에게로 데려가고
15. It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because [it is] none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
그의 장막에 거하리니 이는 그 장막이 그의 것이 아니기 때문이라. 유황이 그의 거처 위에 뿌려지며
16. His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.
밑에서는 그의 뿌리가 마르고 위에서는 그의 가지가 꺾이며
17. His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
그에 대한 기억이 땅에서 사라지고 그는 거리에서 이름을 갖지 못하며
18. He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
그는 빛에서 어둠으로 내몰리고 세상에서 쫓겨나며
19. He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
자기 백성 가운데 아들이나 손자도 없고 또 그의 거처에 남은 자가 아무도 없으리라.
20. They that come after [him] shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.
그의 뒤에 오는 자들이 그의 날을 보고 놀라되 앞서 간 자들이 무서워한 것 같이 놀라리라.
21. Surely such [are] the dwellings of the wicked, and this [is] the place [of him that] knoweth not God.
참으로 사악한 자의 거처들이 이러하며 [하나님]을 알지 못하는 자의 처소가 이러하니라, 하니라.

Job 19장
1. Then Job answered and said,
그때에 욥이 응답하여 이르되,
2. How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
너희가 어느 때까지 내 혼을 괴롭게 하며 말들로 나를 산산조각 내려느냐?
3. These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed [that] ye make yourselves strange to me.
너희가 이같이 열 번이나 나를 모욕하였으되 내게 낯선 자처럼 행하고도 부끄러워하지 아니하는도다.
4. And be it indeed [that] I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
참으로 내가 잘못을 저질렀다 해도 내 잘못은 내게 남아 있느니라.
5. If indeed ye will magnify [yourselves] against me, and plead against me my reproach:
참으로 너희가 나를 대적하여 너희 자신을 높이고 나를 대적하여 내 수치를 말하려 할진대
6. Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
[하나님]께서 나를 뒤엎으시고 자신의 그물로 나를 에워싸신 줄 이제 알지니라.
7. Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but [there is] no judgment.
보라, 내가 억울하여 부르짖으나 그분께서 내 말을 듣지 아니하시고 내가 크게 부르짖으나 심판이 없도다.
8. He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
그분께서 내 길을 둘러 막으사 내가 지나가지 못하게 하시고 내가 다니는 행로에 어둠을 두시며
9. He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown [from] my head.
내게서 내 영광을 빼앗아 가시고 관을 내 머리에서 가져가시며
10. He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
사방에서 나를 멸하셨으므로 내가 사라졌도다. 또 그분께서 내 소망을 나무처럼 옮기시고
11. He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as [one of] his enemies.
또한 나를 향해 친히 진노하시며 나를 자신의 원수들 가운데 하나로 여기셨도다.
12. His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
그분의 군대가 함께 나아와 자기들의 길을 쌓아 올리고 나를 치며 내 장막을 둘러 진을 치는도다.
13. He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
그분께서 내 형제들을 내게서 멀리 떠나가게 하시니 내가 아는 사람들이 진실로 내게 낯선 자가 되었도다.
14. My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
내 친척들은 끊어지고 내 친한 친구들은 나를 잊었도다.
15. They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
내 집에 거하는 자들과 내 여종들이 나를 낯선 자로 여기니 내가 그들의 눈앞에서 외국 사람이 되었도다.
16. I called my servant, and he gave [me] no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
내가 내 종을 불러도 그가 대답하지 아니하매 내 입으로 그에게 간청하였도다.
17. My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the childrens [sake] of mine own body.
내가 내 몸에서 난 자식들로 인해 간청하였으되 내 숨결이 내 아내에게 낯설도다.
18. Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
참으로 어린아이들도 나를 업신여기고 내가 일어서면 나를 비방하였도다.
19. All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
내 마음속 친구들이 다 나를 몹시 싫어하며 내가 사랑하는 자들이 나를 치려고 돌이켰도다.
20. My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
내 뼈가 살갗과 살에 달라붙으니 내가 잇몸만 가지고 피신하였도다.
21. Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
오 내 친구들아, 너희는 나를 불쌍히 여길지어다. 나를 불쌍히 여길지어다. [하나님]의 손이 나를 건드리셨느니라.
22. Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
너희가 어찌하여 [하나님]처럼 나를 핍박하며 내 살로 만족하지 아니하느냐?
23. Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
오 이제 내 말들이 기록된다면 얼마나 좋을까! 오 그것들이 한 권의 책으로 인쇄된다면 얼마나 좋을까!
24. That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
그것들이 철필과 납으로 바위에 영원토록 새겨진다면 좋으리로다!
25. For I know [that] my redeemer liveth, and [that] he shall stand at the latter [day] upon the earth:
내 구속자께서 살아 계시는 것을 내가 아노니 마지막 날에 그분께서 땅 위에 서시리라.
26. And [though] after my skin [worms] destroy this [body], yet in my flesh shall I see God:
내 살갗의 벌레들이 이 몸을 멸할지라도 내가 여전히 내 육체 안에서 [하나님]을 보리라.
27. Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; [though] my reins be consumed within me.
내 콩팥이 내 속에서 소멸될지라도 내가 직접 그분을 보리니 다른 것이 아니요, 내 눈이 바라보리로다.
28. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
오직 너희는 마땅히 이르기를, 문제의 뿌리가 내 안에서 발견되었거늘 어찌하여 우리가 그를 핍박하느냐? 할지니라.
29. Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath [bringeth] the punishments of the sword, that ye may know [there is] a judgment.
너희는 칼을 두려워할지니라. 진노는 칼의 형벌을 가져오나니 이로써 너희가 심판이 있음을 알게 되리라, 하니라.

Job 20장
1. Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
그때에 나아마 사람 소발이 응답하여 이르되,
2. Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for [this] I make haste.
그러므로 내 생각들이 나로 하여금 답변하게 하나니 이것으로 인해 내가 서두르노라.
3. I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
나를 모욕하는 책망의 말을 내가 들었으므로 내 지각의 영이 나로 하여금 답변하게 하는도다.
4. Knowest thou [not] this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
네가 이것을 알지 못하느냐? 예로부터 그분께서 사람을 땅에 두신 이래로
5. That the triumphing of the wicked [is] short, and the joy of the hypocrite [but] for a moment?
사악한 자의 승리는 잠시뿐이요, 위선자의 기쁨은 잠깐뿐이니라.
6. Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
비록 그의 뛰어남이 하늘들에까지 닿고 그의 머리가 구름들에까지 미칠지라도
7. [Yet] he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where [is] he?
그가 자기 똥처럼 영원히 사라지리라. 그를 본 자들이 이르기를, 그가 어디 있느냐? 하리라.
8. He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
그가 꿈같이 날아가 버리니 찾을 수 없으며 참으로 그가 밤의 환상같이 쫓겨가리라.
9. The eye also [which] saw him shall [see him] no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
그를 본 눈도 다시는 그를 보지 못할 것이요, 그의 처소도 다시는 그를 바라보지 못하리라.
10. His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
그의 자녀들은 가난한 자들을 기쁘게 하려고 힘쓰겠고 그의 손은 그들의 재물을 돌려주리라.
11. His bones are full [of the sin] of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
그의 뼈들은 그의 젊을 때의 죄로 가득한즉 그와 함께 흙 속에 누우리라.
12. Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, [though] he hide it under his tongue;
그의 입이 비록 사악함을 달게 여기고 그가 그것을 혀 밑에 감추며
13. [Though] he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
아껴서 버리지 아니하고 오히려 입 안에 가만히 물고 있을지라도
14. [Yet] his meat in his bowels is turned, [it is] the gall of asps within him.
그의 음식이 그의 창자 속에서 변하고 그 속에서 독사의 쓸개즙이 되느니라.
15. He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
그가 재물을 삼켰을지라도 다시 토하리니 [하나님]께서 그것을 그의 배에서 나오게 하시리라.
16. He shall suck the poison of asps: the vipers tongue shall slay him.
그는 독사의 독을 빨며 독사의 혀가 그를 죽이리라.
17. He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
그는 강들과 홍수들과 꿀과 버터가 흐르는 시내들을 보지 못하며
18. That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow [it] down: according to [his] substance [shall] the restitution [be], and he shall not rejoice [therein].
자기가 수고하여 얻은 그것을 돌려주고 삼키지 못하되 자기 재산에 따라 되돌려 주며 또 그가 그것을 기뻐하지 아니하리니
19. Because he hath oppressed [and] hath forsaken the poor; [because] he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
이는 그가 가난한 자를 학대하고 버렸으며 자기가 짓지 아니한 집을 폭력으로 빼앗았기 때문이니라.
20. Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
분명히 그는 자기 배 속에서 평온을 느끼지 못하며 자기가 원하는 것을 지키지 못하리라.
21. There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
그의 음식에서 남은 것이 하나도 없을 터인즉 아무도 그의 재물을 기대하지 아니할 것이요,
22. In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
그는 자기가 가장 풍족할 때에도 궁핍에 처하리니 사악한 자의 모든 손이 그에게 임하리라.
23. [When] he is about to fill his belly, [God] shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain [it] upon him while he is eating.
그가 자기 배를 채우려 할 때에 [하나님]께서 친히 맹렬한 진노를 그에게 부으시리니 그가 먹을 때에 그에게 진노를 비같이 쏟으시리라.
24. He shall flee from the iron weapon, [and] the bow of steel shall strike him through.
그가 쇠로 된 무기를 피할 때에는 강철로 된 활이 그를 쳐서 꿰뚫을 것이요,
25. It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors [are] upon him.
그것을 빼낸즉 그것이 몸에서 나오나니 참으로 번쩍이는 칼이 그의 쓸개에서 나오고 두려움이 그에게 닥치느니라.
26. All darkness [shall be] hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
온갖 어둠이 그의 은밀한 처소들 안에 감추어지리니 피우지 않은 불이 그를 삼키고 그것이 자기 장막에 남아 있는 그에게 해를 입히리라.
27. The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
하늘이 그의 불법을 드러내며 땅이 그를 대적하여 일어나리니
28. The increase of his house shall depart, [and his goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
그의 집의 번영이 떠나가며 그의 재물이 그분의 진노의 날에 떠내려가리라.
29. This [is] the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
이것이 사악한 자가 [하나님]께 받을 몫이요, [하나님]께서 그에게 정하신 유산이니라, 하니라.
